Crinan Post Office

PEN AND INK

Crinan Post Office.jpg

The old shed on the corner of the McIntyre farm lane in Aldborough (now West Elgin) looks like any other rustic agricultural building in rural Ontario. This was actually the Post Office for the small hamlet of Crinan. The McIntyres were Post masters for a couple of generations and carried on all duties of the Post Office from this humble shed. The farm was home to our friend John McIntyre, a former high school teacher at West Elgin Secondary School. For more historical data, check out Hugh J. Sims’s book “History of Elgin”. Most Elgin County libraries carry copies of all the volumes.
